The Boathouse Tennis Center is a world-class facility with nine Har-Tru clay courts. The professional coaching staff offers personalized lessons and clinics for players of all abilities. This includes daily adult clinics, organized play, weekly events and tournaments. The highly regarded junior program includes clinics, special events and a tennis academy for children ages 3 to 18.
Doug Browne – Director of Tennis
Originally from Milwaukee, WI, Doug Browne joined The Boathouse in 2011 as the Club’s Director of Tennis. Doug spends his winters in Florida where he is the Director of Tennis at the Hideaway Beach Club on Marco Island, FL. In Florida, Doug has earned the Naples, Florida USPTA Pro of the Year honors in 2006 and again in 2010. During the summer of 2010 he was appointed the Director of Tennis at the prestigious Hall of Fame in Newport, RI and has held the title of Executive Director/President of the Collier County Community Tennis Association since 1998.
Doug Browne is no stranger to teaching all levels of tennis and he has a strong appetite for junior tennis development and adult clinics. Doug’s wife Leslie is also a member of our tennis department. Leslie was a highly successful Division 1 tennis standout from the University of New Mexico. Originally from Fairfield, CT, Leslie has played at all levels of tennis, including at the collegiate and professional level. She brings a great deal of experience and passion for ladies clinics, kids’ clinics and retail.
Leslie Browne was a highly successful Division 1 tennis standout from the University of New Mexico. Originally from Fairfield, CT, Leslie is a former top-ranked New England junior and has held numerous Florida USTA adult rankings including number one in and undefeated in women’s 25 doubles and husband-wife mixed doubles. Doug & Leslie were the number 1 Florida team for three consecutive years and never lost a match in competition.
Omar Morgades is from Los Angeles, California and he has been a Tennis Professional since 1990. Omar started his career as the Assistant Tennis and Junior Development Pro at the El Paso Tennis Club where he worked from 1990 – 1996. He is currently the Tennis Pro at Beverly Hills Tennis and the Girls and Boys Varsity Head Coach at Milton Community Schools in California. He has extensive experience scheduling and running clinics and lessons for children and adults. He is USPTA and NHSF certified and a member of the California Coaches Association. He achieved #6 USTA ranking in Men’s 35 singles in 2015 and currently #12 USTA ranking Men’s 40 singles. Notably, Omar is also an International Sommelier Guild Member!
Victor Monterio grew up in Florianopolis, Brazil. He started playing tennis at age ten and won over 20 tournaments in his junior career. For five years he worked at the Costao Do Santinho resort in Florianopolis before moving to the US. Since 2007 he has worked at the Bay Colony Club in Naples, FL and is currently the Head Pro at the Club. Victor is USPTA certified and a fluent English, Spanish and Portuguese speaker.
Douglas Small is currently attending Florida State University and is the captain of the tennis team. Prior to FSU he was the captain on the tennis team at Barron Collier HS, Naples and helped the team become State Champions. In the summers of 2013 – 2015 he was an Assistant Tennis Instructor at the Bay Colony Club, Naples, FL and the Assistant Tennis Pro at Killarn Country Club, Tallahassee in the summer of 2016. He was a former top ranked junior player in Florida and is an experiences teacher with good communication skills.
