Personal Trainers and Instructors
Griffin Hughes is the Wellness Director for the Boathouse and is also a certified and licensed Personal Trainer and Massage Therapist. She graduated from the International Professional School of Bodywork in La Jolla, California, where she earned her certificate in Integrative Bodywork and Somatic Psychology. After graduation Griffin worked as a clinical massage therapist and a bodywork technician at Gaia Day Spa in La Jolla. In 2006, she moved to Martha’s Vineyard to work in a Sports Medicine Clinic in West Tisbury for 3 years performing soft tissue manual therapy and leading exercise rehab programs. Griffin sees nutrition and fitness as vital components to optimal health and living the best life possible.
Damon Burke is a Certified as a Personal Trainer through the International Fitness Professionals Association (IFPA) as well as the Athletic Certification Training Commission (ACT). Damon has extensive experience training clients in New York City and Martha’s Vineyard. Focusing on strength and conditioning techniques and incorporating balance and agility training, Damon seeks to improve his client’s confidence and performance in sports and their active lifestyles.
Bennett Coffey's yogic journey began six years ago when she walked into her first yoga class. She has been practicing diligently ever since, in places like Charleston SC, Hawaii, California, NYC, Washington D.C. and here on Martha’s Vineyard. In her classes, she encourages her students to respect and listen to the wisdom of their bodies moving through the poses slowly so that the tension we build up each day can be released.
Robert Sidoti was certified as a personal trainer through National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) in 2002, where he began helping clients improve their athletic performance through strength training and functional fitness techniques. In 2008 Robert was certified by Swami Sitaramananda at the Sivananda Vendanta Centre in the "Yoga for Athletic Peak Performance" Program. Robert has continued his Hatha Yoga studies to complete the 200 RYT certification with Kira Ryder, founder of Lulubandhas and the Ojai Yoga Crib in his hometown of Ojai, California. Growing up outdoors in Southern California made Robert an avid athlete/outdoors man since childhood.
Melissa Aldeborgh has over 20 years of fitness industry, and holds a personal training certification with American Sports & Fitness Association. In addition, she is certified in multiple group fitness forums, ICSA Kickboxing, and Les Mills programs. Melissa enjoys helping her clients to keep a balanced and active lifestyle by keeping them challenged and motivated them to surpass their mental and physical boundaries.
Sian Williams is originally from Manchester, England and moved to Martha's Vineyard in 1988. Sian began her yoga teacher training certification with renowned teacher, Shiva Rea, and completed in the fall of 2008, certified by Yoga Alliance as a 200 hour RYT. Sian has been teaching yoga to kids ranging in age from 5 to 14 years old. She created Pandavine, Yoga for kids program, which has become a popular fixture on the Island.
Mathea Morais is an RKC (Russian Kettlebell Challenge) Certified instructor with over five years experience teaching kettlebells in private, class and workshop settings. She has worked with professional athletes, personal trainers, marathon runners, gymnasts, yogis, moms, dads, kids and grandparents! She has trained with some of the countries top Kettlebell professionals including Pavel Tsatsouline, Steve Cotter, and Tracy Reifkind.
Johanna Hynes aspired to teach yoga while living in NYC, as a means of deepening her own understanding of the practice. Intrigued by the philosophical system that asana stems from Johanna was drawn to the Jivamukti Yoga School where she completed a 300 hour certification. During that time, Johanna gained a strong foundation of anatomy, philosophy, Sanskrit and sequencing. Johanna’s teaching reflects the Jivamukti, Iyengar, and Benagh methods.
Judy Kranz fell in love with the Pilates method and became a certified Instructor from Power Pilates in 2004 then went on to become a Teacher Trainer in 2009. She lives on the Vineyard full time and is excited to bring her extensive New York experience here. Her skill set includes the ability to work with multiple levels in the same class with energy and humor.
Teri Pirozzi has over 20 years’ experience in the fitness industry, and has held a personal training certification with the American Council on Exercise (ACE) since 1989. In addition, she is an ACE Lifestyle & Weight Management Consultant, and has trained in osteoporosis prevention, fibromyalgia, and senior fitness. As a trainer, she incorporates several modalities, including strength, cardio, cross-training, yoga and Pilates. Teri’s wellness philosophy is Energy + Serenity = Resilience.
